About Us

Twenty Years of Changing
the Media Landscape

One Drama-Free
Production at a Time

Our Story

From Frustration to Innovation

Here’s the thing nobody tells you about starting a video production company as LGBTQ+ women in a male-dominated industry: you’re not playing the same game with the same rules.

Monique was watching organizations acknowledge the need for bilingual content while refusing to invest in it. Piper was explaining basic business concepts to musicians who were all talent, no strategy. When we crossed paths, the solution seemed obvious: combine Monique’s production expertise with Piper’s business acumen.

Were we ready? Not entirely. But we were already running three mini-businesses between us, so what was one more?

Building Something Different

For twenty years, we’ve been the only prominent BIPOC and LGBTQ-owned video production company in the Triangle. While others chased fads, we focused on what matters:

  • Creating safe spaces where clients and crew can be fully expressed
  • Obsessing over details that others overlook (like how different skin tones need different lighting approaches)
  • Building inclusive teams that understand representation both behind and in front of the camera

We’ve been passed over for promotions while watching less qualified men advance. We’ve had our expertise ignored on set, only to watch those same “oversights” create problems in post-production. We’ve been denied $100,000 equipment loans despite solid projections, while watching competitors receive gifted gear from retiring mentors.

But here’s what those experiences taught us: Your squad is everything.

What We Stand For

Inclusion + Accessibility + Advocacy at the CORE

We believe in representation

Who’s in the room making decisions matters. Without diverse perspectives behind the camera, it’s easy to unintentionally reinforce harmful stereotypes. We’re changing that, one production at a time.

We’re obsessed with preparation

While others think sound doesn’t matter on location or scripts are optional, we know better. Excellence happens in pre-production.

We create momentum

Our expertise lies in leading with transparency and—most importantly—getting sh*t done. No ego. No drama. Just results.

Monique Velasquez

Co-Founder & Executive Producer

With over two decades of production experience, Monique brings technical expertise and creative vision to every project. She’s the one who spotted HD television’s potential before anyone else and created a lesbian sci-fi web series that hit a million views in 2012 (when people still asked “What’s a web series?”).

Our Approach

How We Work Differently

Discovery First

We start by understanding your goals, audience, and the impact you want to create. No cookie-cutter solutions.

Inclusive Planning

We assemble diverse production teams and create detailed plans that consider every perspective and need.

Obsessive Preparation

From scripts to shot lists, from lighting plans to backup equipment -we prepare for everything.

Drama-Free Execution

On production day, you’ll experience what 20+ years of expertise feels like: smooth, professional, and actually enjoyable.

Fast, Quality Delivery

We deliver professional video editing and post-production that exceeds expectations, on time and on budget.

Why This Matters Beyond Just Making Videos

Every time we create inclusive content, we’re shifting the media landscape. Every time we hire diverse crews, we’re creating opportunities. Every time we light Black skin correctly or ensure captions are included, we’re setting new industry standards.

This isn’t just about video production for social causes. It’s about using our expertise to create a media landscape that actually reflects the world we live in.
